Dream, Awaken, Live

The other night I awoke…inspired…3:45am to be exact. I had to document what I saw because it felt so real…and I kind of wanted it to be. I’d like to consider my dreams a part of my world…after all, it is real…until your eye shutters are unfortunately opened.

So it began with me sitting underwater; an obscure backyard-like swimming pool surrounded by dense forest…no one else in sight, no presence of light. I sat there submerged, but could breathe. It was pitch black, yet I could see and feel that I was in the water. I saw the oaks and timbers of the forest as if in broad daylight…but it wasn’t. In my isolation I walked for what seemed like two hours, and the water followed. I neared entry into the forest, and the trees quickly sank into the ground…simultaneously, as if giants were beneath the surface plucking out eyebrow hairs from the roots in. I wasn’t scared, but felt the sudden urge to want to scream…I didn’t. “In water”, I kept thinking, “I am surrounded by water…I wonder”. The next thing I knew I was swimming in mid air…swimming and swimming with unlimited energy, inhaling under the water, and suddenly noticing a hardly visible spec of reddish neon light penetrating the water from above. I began swimming into the sky, never looking back, until I reached the illuminated object. It was a gigantic fluorescent neon human heart…beating and making my heart beat faster than I have ever felt, almost unbearable yet unbelievably inspiring. It caused my skin to rip open at the middle of my wrists as my veins ferociously extended themselves into the projectile arteries of this neo-cardio creature. We were one, and soon the blood that was returned into my corpse by the heart had been converted into the same luminous substance. I wanted to scream again, and was just about to say what I have always wanted to express my entire life to the heart, to the world, and even to myself until…
I awoke…

We are all one.

Touch

We all have so much influence, so much passion…
How can we use our words to embrace the world,
and our hands to make dreams realities?

Touch
We touch souls with our voice, silent actions, hands and lips
It’s how we survive.
For good or for bad, what we say and do to one another…is touch
What we think and feel inside is just zip-locked
Until we unfasten those infamous pink and blue clasps with
Our touch

Sticks and stones will hurt, but we often underestimate the power of our words
Words that gave the command to drop that bomb or commence that war
They touch
The words that suppress the dreamers, confuse the believers
But all is not lost

Luckily we have a simple solution…that is, those sticks and stones,
And even those words
Instead of hurling or wounding–build, instead of cursing and killing–inspire
I don’t know you, but I love you…is it really that hard,
To use touch
To love?

Feel
Our pulses combine
Like a seed planted into the earth, my life now planted into yours
Even if no words are spoken, the power of your presence
Your touch…is enough for me to know that I belong in this world

So embrace what you love and never let go
For what you touch will be golden, not rotten or frozen
The world needs your hand to hold, your voice to encourage the child who
Has almost given up
Your touch…is enough to save
